  • Overview

    The Bowen Group is an industry leader in the provision of wellness services to the military and veteran communities, is searching for a Communications Planner/Operations Lead.  This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC.


    • As part of a team, develop an initial communications strategic plan to be updated monthly that integrates the needs of the three branches: Health Education, Reproductive Health, and Comprehensive Health; the plan should maximize the effective execution of communication and outreach capabilities and deliver mission-focused messages to diverse audiences
    • Serves as the digital strategist for the contract, overseeing the development of all digital communication plans and tactics and ensuring any outreach opportunities align with the governments goals and objectives
    • As a strategic thinker, work with the government to develop key performance indicators and using data gathered through routine monthly reporting, make recommendations on new areas for research, content development, or tactics to further the client’s message and marketing goals
    • Manage a cross functional team in the execution of the government approved communications strategic plan
    • Inventory communications materials monthly
    • Maintain the existing events calendar daily, coordinate it with other entities as needed, and report out on it at weekly communications planning and briefing meetings
    • Provide logistical planning, agenda and content preparation, note taking, and reporting out as appropriate, for weekly communications team planning and briefing meetings

    • Perform other duties as requested


    • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 5 years’ experience; Master’s degree preferred
    • Experience in the following required:
      • Strategic Communications
      • Marketing
      • Health Communications
    • Veteran’s Health Administration experience a plus
    • Must be able to pass a federal background check
    • PC literacy required; MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
    • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
